Head of Project Management Office (PMO)






Falck has a history of continued growth and is divided into 4 business areas; Emergency; Assistance; Safety Services & Healthcare. Emergency is the largest business area and accounts for around 2/3 of Falck´s revenue. With more than 2.500 ambulances and almost 24.000 rescue officers, nurses, doctors and other staff, the Emergency business area of Falck assists millions of sick or injured people on five continents every year.

In collaboration with the authorities, Falck provides a large number of other pre-hospital services using ambulances, doctor’s cars, paramedic cars and patient transportation vehicles. Private citizens also make increasing use of home calls by Falck doctors and visits Falck’s medical and health clinics in a growing number of countries around the world.

A significant growth element for Falck Emergency is acquisitions and integration of new companies with individual processes, systems and practices. Therefore, efficient IT project- and program management will get an increased focus in the years to come. Therefore, Falck is looking for a Head of Project Management Office (PMO), which is a newly established role.

The position as Head of PMO is embedded in the IT & Operational Excellence organization of the Emergency business area. This organization consists of an IT Director for each geographical region, a Head of Application Management a Head of Operational Excellence and the Head of PMO.

Project Management Office is responsible for delivering the entire portfolio of projects within the IT- & Operational Excellence organization of Falck Emergency. The project model is based on Prince2®. The PMO team currently consist of 5 employees on different locations in Europe.

As Head of PMO, you will be responsible for building up this function and make it excel. Since it is a newly established function, current maturity of PMO is on a “quite early stage” giving you lots of opportunity to influence and make a significant impact. Subsequently, the position will be a blend of high-level conceptual work and a more hands-on focus on implementation ensuring that processes and methods will make a significant difference.

Therefore, the position will play an important role in the further growth and of the Emergency business area and have interfaces to all parts of the IT organization, financial, commercial and operational functions etc. A big part of the role will also be to establish relevant reporting and KPI´s. The position will be part of global management team and reports to the CIO & Vice President of Operational Excellence in Falck Emergency, Martin Wiesener, who reports to CFO.
Among your main responsibilities and tasks will be: 

• Manage team that currently consists of 5 Project Managers on different locations in Europe in         order to ensure project are delivered in terms of agreed project handbook

• Own project- & portfolio management process & governance which is based on Prince2® and         Lean six sigma principles

• Owner of project management tool & project handbook

• Secure overview of all projects and their status with reporting and key figures

• Coaching and sparring with Project Managers

• Secure that project- & portfolio management is anchored in the Emergency organization

• Participate in review of project deliverables and steering group meetings for projects where this is    relevant to support Project Managers and Process Owners

Location of the position is Falck Headquarters, Polititorvet, in central Copenhagen. Estimated travel activity is up to 20-30 days a year, most likely less.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or IT, which you have passed with good results. Further, the Head of PMO possesses the following experience and qualifications:

• A master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or IT, which you’ve passed with good results

• Solid experience with PMO, IT project / portfolio management and / or operational excellence

• Preferably relevant certifications within project and program management, e.g. MSP, Prince2®,     IPMA etc.

• Possess an updated “tool box” within relevant areas which you apply to optimize processes

• Data driven and proficient in Excel 

• Fluency in oral and written English
